Senior Accountant / Analyst

Description:
The CalViva Health, the Fresno-Kings-Madera Regional Health Authority local initiative plan located in Fresno California, is recruiting a Senior Accountant/Analyst to provide both general accounting support for the organization as well as assist in providing financial oversight of subcontractors. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Examples of Principal Duties:

1. Maintain General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers as needed.
2. Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
3. Prepare journal entries, perform month end close and prepare monthly financial statements
4. Prepare periodic financial reports for filing with the Department of Managed Health Care and other governmental bodies as needed.
5. Analyze and monitor subcontractor performance of financial performance standards such as claims payment timeliness.
6. Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
7. Perform analysis of medical cost trends.
8. Design and prepare analysis and reports to assist Department Managers, Senior Management and Commission Board as needed.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

1. Education – Bachelor degree (required) with major in accounting from a recognized four year College or University
2. Experience – 3 to 5 years relevant experience preferably with exposure to the healthcare industry. Health Plan experience a plus.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Knowledge of general accounting including journal entries, month end closings and preparation of financial statements. Ability to analyze financial transactions, accounts and trends. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to grasp accounting system operations and to direct others.
